“Hotel Mariachi”

A unique visual and narrative approach to the strengthen, and survival of mariachi musicians through a place: HOTEL MARIACHI.

Yesterday, “Hotel Mariachi. Urban space and cultural heritage in Los Angeles” published by UNM Press won the Award as Best Non-Fiction Multi Author book at the 2015 Latino Book Awards during the Annual ALA Conference (American Library Association), held in  San Francisco.

With co-authour Enrique Lamadrid , we´ll share the passion for the story and life of mariachi music, and  how a book can help to build community solidarity.

The musicians of Mariachi Plaza and the historic “Mariachi Hotel” are portrayed in Miguel Gandert’s photographs and essays by Catherine Kurland, Enrique Lamadrid, and Evangeline Ordaz-Molina.
